Compassion

At Mother Teresa we are going to show
compassion towards those we meet in our class and on the playground by:

• Empathising
• Expressing care
• Describing feelings
• Taking action to assist others
• Responding to other’s needs
• Giving generously to Project Compassion.

FOCUS ASSEMBLY

Thank you Mrs Radic, Miss Jeffries Mrs Delbow and Mrs Leet along with 4 Indigo and 4 Amethyst for presenting a beautiful Focus Assembly on Compassion Fr Mark dressed up as the chief ‘Bee Keeper” and shared a great Homily on how we can Bee– happy in the ‘Hive’ with as all having an important role to play. It was unfortunate that our parents and friends were unable to attend due to Covid restrictions.

SHROVE TUESDAY

The day before Ash Wednesday, is often called ‘Pancake Tuesday’. Older people might remember it as ‘Shrove Tuesday’.  To prepare for Lent’s fasting some people cook all the meat they have.  Another custom on this day is to ‘feast’ on pancakes.  This year the classroom teachers will be providing pancakes for their class.

Whole School Mass in the Hall

Unfortunately parents and friends will not be able to attend due to the Covid-19 restrictions.

This week the season of Lent begins with Ash Wednesday, which also marks the beginning of the annual Caritas Australia Project Compassion Appeal. Donations to Project Compassion allows Caritas Australia, the Catholic Agency for International Aid and Development, to work with local communities around the world to alleviate poverty, hunger, oppression and injustice.

We encourage you to put your compassion into action this Lent through your prayer, fasting and almsgiving by supporting Project Compassion. Each family will receive a Project Compassion box and/or a set of envelopes for their donations.

Saint Oscar Romero is our inspiration for Project Compassion 2021, so in his words let’s “Aspire not to have more, but to be more.”

The whole school focus aims to provide additional opportunities for students to be inspired by God’s love and learn about the great example Jesus showed us. Students are encouraged to reflect on their faith, think about their actions and be motivated to make right choices.
