The Sports Spectacle
This Thursday, we hosted our annual Athletics Carnival at the AIS, and let me tell you, it was chillier than a polar bear in a snowstorm! Trying to spot our brave 800m runners through the fog was like playing "Where's Waldo?"—good luck with that! But as the weather warmed up, the excitement heated up too. It was fantastic to witness our students pushing themselves in running distances that some might not have even imagined competing in before. Bravo, everyone!
In the middle session at school, our fabulous Kindy and Year One teachers hosted a mini sports carnival, giving the younger students a taste of athletics—because who doesn’t want to start preparing for the Olympics a few years early? There were smiles galore, and let’s just say the feedback from students was more glowing than kids on Christmas morning!
A massive shoutout to our amazing volunteers! Seriously, without you, the day would’ve been as chaotic as a cat in a room full of laser pointers. From timekeeping to raking and measuring, you made it all happen. Thank you!
Now, for the results: the final placings were Irwin, Jackman, Alcott, and Barty—who has officially claimed the title of “Athletics Carnival Champion” for two years running! Talk about a winning streak!
Ribbons for those who finished in the top three for their age group will be handed out next week.
And guess what? We had four runners qualify for the ACT Cross Country Carnival on Friday at Stromlo. Leo McCarroll finished 3rd and Lachlan Rodda took home the gold in their age groups! Outstanding job, you speedsters!
Anabelle and Harvey proudly represented Barty, receiving the Athletics Shield for 2025.
