Principal's Message Term 2 Week 7 2025

Dear Parents and Carers,

Go Blue for Vinnies
On Friday, the children are welcome to wear casual blue clothing to school. This is to highlight our final appeal for the term, for donations of non-perishable food items, to support families in need in the parish. Suggested items are indicated below to add to your shopping list.

On Friday evening, 50 Year 6 students and several staff and parents will participate in the MTS Vinnies Sleepout between 5:00pm and 9:00pm in the school grounds, to gain a personal understanding of the challenges faced by those who are homeless and find themselves sleeping on the streets. Members of our local Vinnies team and our Youth Minister, Maddie Greenwood, will provide an input session. This will be followed by the children being creative with cardboard boxes to create an outdoor shelter to accommodate a short sleep before heading home. Dinner will consist of noodles and a bread roll.

Parent Enrolment Contract
The following points, taken from the current Parent Enrolment Contract, are a good reminder of your obligations when signing the document.
The Parent acknowledges that:
a. the Parent will be encouraged to engage in the life of the School through participation in events such as Mass, liturgies, sports carnivals and school assemblies;
b. as the Student’s first and most important educator, the Parent should actively support the Student’s learning;
c. when volunteering at the School, attending events or otherwise participating in the life of the School the Parent must act in accordance with any applicable policies, codes of conduct or procedures in place, and any directions given by the Principal or staff at the School;
d. any behaviour by a Parent or any other person that is disrespectful, threatening, harassing or inappropriate may result in access to the School being restricted or revoked and that restrictions on participation in School activities and communication with staff may be put in place in the School’s absolute discretion; and
e. the School is not responsible for enforcing court orders and staff will not become involved in disputes involving family members.

Student Conduct
8. The Parent will take steps to ensure, to the best of their ability, that the Student conducts themselves in a manner that does not cause physical or psychological harm to themselves or others.

Changeover from hats to beanies

This is a reminder that now winter is here, the children do not need to wear their sunhats until the end of August; this is in line with the SunSmart recommendation. A navy beanie should be worn, as part of the uniform, to keep ears warm when outdoors.
Athletic Carnival
It was a big day on Thursday with all grades participating in athletics events either at school or at the AIS. It was a chilly start to the day. Thank you to Kate O'Keefe for her organisation and the support of staff and parents. A few Kinder highlights
