Principal's Message Term 2 Week 5 2024
Dear Parents,
Welcome to the halfway point of Term 2. As the weather gets colder and winter sickness rears it's head we continue to think of those in our community who are ill. This week many of our students and staff have been absent and while splitting classes is a last resort, there are times in schools when this is unavoidable. We thank all of our staff at MTS for applying such a selfless attitude to ensure that our students continue to learn, even when resources are stretched to the limit.
Confirmation
Last Thursday and Friday many of our Year 6 leaders received the Holy Spirit, through the sacrament of Reconciliation. A huge thanks to Father Troy and Father Eden who presided over the ceremonies and to Mrs Leet and our Year 6 staff for preparing our children.
National Reconciliation Week
On Tuesday the community of Mother Teresa School celebrated National Reconciliation Week by wearing something yellow, creating awareness of First Nations culture and their histories and culture. Year 3 were also treated to a visit from one of our First Nation People, Tamara who taught our students much about Indigenous traditions and beliefs. We as a Catholic School Community, will continue to celebrate the rich cultures that adorn our classrooms.
North Gungahlin Cross Country Carnival
Over 50 proud MTS students represented our school today at the regional Cross Country Carnival. Despite the inclement conditions, the students ran their little hearts out, displaying a perfect combination of competitiveness and sportsmanship. We congratulate all who went along and look forward to finding out who has advanced to the ACT carnival.
God Bless,
Craig and Lina
