Principal's Message Term 2 Week 4 2024
Dear Parents,
This week we celebrate many of our Year 6 students as they prepare for the Sacrament of Confirmation. In relation to the other Sacraments of the Catholic Church I discovered the following statement that describes the important place that Confirmation holds.
Baptism brings the new life of Christ; Confirmation strengthens the new life of Christ; and the Eucharist nourishes the new life of Christ. Together they make us full members of the Church and they bestow the fullness of the Holy Spirit so that we can live more like Christ.
We wish all of the candidates and their families all the very best for the celebration and we thank Mrs Leet and the staff for preparing them.
Rostrum
On Monday the students from Years 4 to 6 competed in the finals of our Mother Teresa School Rostrum Public Speaking Competition. All of the students showed incredible composure, skill and bravery to deliver five outstanding speeches in front of over 400 students and families. We congratulate all who took part and the eventual winner, Xavier Johnson, who will represent our school in the coming weeks against other students from around the territory.
Steph Reed Announcement
In staffing news we can formally announce that Mrs Stephanie Reed will be leaving at the conclusion of this term. Her family has been posted to Florida (What a life!). We have been so fortunate to have her and her children at Mother Teresa School for the past two years and we wish them all the best for the future. We have begun the recruitment process and will update the community once we have sourced a replacement for Stephanie.
Simultaneous Storytime
Staff and students joined over 2 million other participants on Wednesday for the reading of the National Simultaneous Storytime book for 2024 - Bowerbird Blues by Aura Parker.
Students had the opportunity to creatively respond to the story through art and craft, as well as explore the message of environmental awareness and sustainability in creating posters to promote positive action in caring for our world.
Wishing all of our families a safe and enjoyable long weekend.
God Bless,
Craig and Lina
