Principal's Message Term 1 Week 3 2024

This week has been busy around the school, creating a positive vibe and providing time for families and teachers to reconnect. Last Sunday we held our first community picnic on the oval with a number of families dropping in. It was also wonderful to see so many families able to stop in on Tuesday morning to visit the classroom and meet their child/ren teacher/s. On Wednesday the school celebrated Ash Wednesday with a Mass. Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of our Lenten Season, a time when we prepare ourselves for Easter. Yesterday the children in Years 3 to 6 went to the Dickson pool for our annual swimming carnival. Congratulations to Kieran Russell for his organisation and the support from staff and parent volunteers. The children had lots of fun despite being a little chilly compared with the hot days earlier in the week.

As advertised in the picnic promotion, families received house tokens for attending and in addition to the picnic games scattered about, we had a house colour specific scavenger hunt puzzle. The house token totals are as follows:-

Community Council Meeting
This year marks the beginning of the implementation of the new Community Council Guidelines. Parents are invited to our first meeting to be held on Tuesday 20 February commencing at 6.00pm - 7.30pm in the school staffroom. Enter by the main door at the front of the school.

School Fees
I understand that the school fees will be released by CE mid-next week. Fees will be sent to your registered email address as recorded in Compass. Please ensure all your details are correct. Families who have applied for a fee concession, please note that applications will not be processed until after the fees have been sent out. Apologies for the delay.
KidsBiz Enrolments
With the new year the demand for enrolment places into our School Care programs has been high. We are governed by strict licensing laws and are not permitted to take more than our licensing application allows. I understand this is causing issues for several families. Unfortunately, we cannot increase our current numbers.
School Attendance
Daily school attendance is essential unless a child is not well. It is also critical that children are at school by 8.45am. Due to the number of children arriving late the teacher will now be marking rolls at 8.55 each day. If a child is not in class by 8.55am they will be recorded as not present and must be checked in at the office. Children will be issued with
- a yellow pass if they arrive via the office indicating they are on time or
- a blue ticket indicating they arrived after 8.55am and have been formally signed in.
Please make every effort to get your child to school on time.
Our current school focus is on being Calm
Year 6 Camp
Year 6 camp information is to be released. As camp is occurring very soon please take the weekend to complete all the required documentation and permission requirements. Camp dates are Wednesday 28 February to Friday 1 March.
Uniform Shop
Our uniform shop volunteers have advised that they will be opening the uniform shop every Wednesday and Friday from 8:30 until 9:00am.
