Principal's Message Term 4 Week 9 - 2023

Dear Parents

As a Catholic learning community,

all at Mother Teresa School are called

to care, to dream, to innovate, to inspire!

Christmas Carols
Thank you to everyone who attended our Carol on the Oval on Thursday evening. Despite the grey clouds our evening was very enjoyable thanks the the coordination of Susan Curbishley who organised the children, Community Council members for the raffle, and Vicki Strickland, our community parent officer, for the coordination and work behind the scenes.

Year 6 Graduation
This week the year celebrated the end of their primary school years with a beautiful dinner on Monday night thanks to the efforts of several parents who coordinated the event. This was followed by a wonderful award presentation on Wednesday morning where the children shared memories of their primary school years and received their certificates. Thanks to the Year 6 teachers for all the organisation to make the end-of-year celebrations so memorable.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended Kinder Christmas Nativity today. Your support and enthusiasm filled the room with warmth and joy, making the event truly special.

Mrs Curbishley, along with our dedicated Kinder teachers, worked tirelessly to orchestrate a magnificent performance that touched our hearts. Their commitment and passion shone brightly, and we owe them a debt of gratitude for making this event so memorable.

And, of course, let's not forget our incredible students whose talent and enthusiasm made the Nativity truly awe-inspiring. Your dedication and hard work were nothing short of amazing.

As we bid farewell to Mrs. Curbishley, we can't help but feel a tinge of sadness knowing that her contributions to MTS will be greatly missed. Her legacy will remain a cherished part of our school's history, and we'll carry her spirit forward in all our future endeavours.

2024 Classes

As we get closer to the end of the year our staffing arrangements are slowly falling into place. The following list indicates the current class allocations for 2024.

Please note
  • While Belinda Hicks is leaving mid-Term 1 she will commence the year working with Carly Reeves.
  • Trees Williams will not be returning to Mother Terese as the family is moving to the coast to be close to family. Trees has been on maternity leave this year.
  • Vicky Strickland, our Community Liasion Office, will be finishing up at the end of the term. Vicki's role was covered by a grant that covered her salary over the last Semester. Many thanks to Vicki for her many initiatives, especially our Tuesday Coffee and Chat mornings. The Community Council Social Committee is sincerely grateful for your contributions and help.
End of Year Assembly
Our end-of-year assembly will be held on Monday commencing at 1.00pm. This will be for the presentation of our Term 4 awards and special Semester 2 awards.

Meet and Greet
On Wednesday morning the children will have the opportunity to meet their new teacher/s and class group for a short session commencing at 10.20. For families who may be away for this event, you can email the office and we will advise the name of the teacher later in the day.  For confidentiality reasons, class lists cannot be provided to the children.
Absentee note
All absentee notes must be finalised by the end of the term so our records are accurate. Please process via Compass.
Year Books
Our amazing 2023 Year Books have arrived and will be handed out to the students on Monday.
Building Project 2024
During the week I received formal notification that the school's grant application was successful and we will receive an Australian Government Capital Grant for $863 000 toward the cost of our hall extension project. I am still to communicate with CE regarding our timeline and if we will have access to parts of the hall during the project. More to come in 2024.
School Reports
Our Semester Two reports will be issued on Tuesday. A Compass notification will be sent to parents when they are available via the Compass portal. Families leaving must copy or save all documents on Compass as you will no longer have access once your child finishes at MTS. The school can still access the reports and email copies on request.
