WHOLE SCHOOL FOCUS
The Whole school focus theme for this year is ‘Walking Together’ and the Bible reference that supports our theme is Luke 24:13-35. The Emmaus Story. This year as we Journey Together, we realise we are not so different from the two disciples walking on the road to Emmaus. Jesus walks with us and among us every day, and yet, too often, we fail to recognize him. Let us learn from this story to find him in the Scriptures and recognize him each time we break bread in church, at home or at school.
WE FOLLOW JESUS’ WAY
“By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” John 13:35
THANKYOU
Thank you, 5 Platinum and 5 silver, along with their teachers, Miss McInnes and Mrs Burgess for a beautiful and moving Prayer Focus to celebrate, We Follow Jesus’ Way @ MTS which is our focus for Term 4.
The students shared a video which they created to display the many ways we follow Jesus at Mother Teresa School. It was great to hear the whole school singing in the ‘Footsteps of Jesus’. Thank you to all the parents and friends who came along to support the students.

“Give to Caesar the things that belong to Caesar and to God the things that are God's.”
Something to Think About
What are your responsibilities? Maybe you have chores to do at home. Maybe you have a job to do in your classroom at school. Maybe one of your responsibilities is to practice a musical instrument or to train for a sporting team. In today’s story Jesus reminds us that one of our responsibilities is to have a special friendship with God and with other people.
The Story
In today’s story, the religious leaders are trying to trick Jesus into saying something that would make him unpopular. They ask Jesus whether the people should pay taxes to the emperor, as the law told them to. If Jesus answered 'No', he would have been reported for treason and probably arrested right away. If he answered 'Yes' then he would have been criticised by the people who believed that God was their only king. Jesus demands a coin and asks whose image is engraved on it. In those days the coins contained the image of the king and were considered to be his property. Jesus says, 'Give to Caesar what belongs to Caesar and to God what belongs to God.' We live in the world and have responsibilities in the world. We also live in relationship with God and that brings responsibility too.

Praying the Rosary
In the early 13th century, St. Dominic preached the Gospel to combat various heresies, and he founded the Order of the Dominicans to carry out this work of spreading the Good News. Despite their efforts, the heresy continued to reappear, however, so he called on the Blessed Virgin Mary to guide him. Tradition holds that Mary appeared to him in 1221 and gave him the devotion of the Rosary, encouraging him to share the prayer with others. Many also believe that the historical origin of the Rosary lies in the monastic practice of reciting 150 Psalms each week, a practice which additionally expanded into the repetition of Hail Mary’s. In 2023, the Rosary remains as powerful as ever. It continues to be a beautiful means for conversion and helped unite the global population of Catholics in prayer.
