Save the date! MTS Community Health Hub – Thursday 7th September 2023

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

We are excited to be presenting the first MTS Community Health Hub to our school community. We are dedicated to increasing our sense of belonging and strengthening our community ties, via a variety of initiatives.

We would value your support and attendance of this event to ensure it can continue and grow into the future. Please grab a cuppa and come into the School Hall to see the wonderful showcase of Community Groups. We have 22 community groups attending, who will happily share and discuss the wonderful programs, supports and activities that they provide. Here is a sample of the Community Groups and some of the supports they provide:

  • Gungahlin Child and Family Centre – free drop in and ongoing parenting support, child behaviour support, early intervention and wellbeing support programs (Cool Little Kids, Cool Kids, Tuning into Kids and Bringing up Great Kids).
  • Child Development Service – Drop in Clinics for Speech, Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapist support for children. Woman’s support services including return to work grants, childcare, social interactions, multicultural networks and mental health support networks.
  • Multicultural Hub – If you are new to Canberra and want to chat to someone about accommodation, employment, schools, children/family services including childcare or finding friends, come and say hi to the Multicultural Support Team. The Multicultural Hub Canberra is a provider of settlement services and support for newly arrived migrants and refugees in the ACT who have been in Australia for five years or less.
  • ArtKids - ArtKids is an after-school art and drawing program that focuses on building children's drawing and observational skills - the fundamentals of all art-making - in a fun, supportive, confidence-building environment. ArtKids also offer ArtTots for 3-5 year olds. ArtTots facilitators provide a fun, guided art experience where children build confidence as they are encouraged to think creatively, imaginatively and independently. Combining literature, music and art, these 45 minute sessions allow your child to explore the creative process through mark making and using different mediums, responding to literature and music.
  • Gungahlin Library – Book Clubs for all, Sensory Story time, Gardening Tips, Guest Speakers, Early Literacy, online Boredom Busters and many, many more interactive groups.
  • Pam’s Pantry - a street pantry of toys, crafts, books and other accessories for people who may be in need. Come and see Pam and ask about volunteering, donating or accessing support.
  • Wildbark (Mulligan’s Flat) – Many events run through Wildbark including Fun Runs and Holiday Programs. Wildbark provides children and families with memorable moments to discover Australian animals and wonders of the natural world. From the grassy-woodlands to the Box-gum lined trails, during the school holidays our younger guests will enjoy beyond the fence experiences that will inspire a connection to the land whilst sharing the important work we are doing to one day eradicate extinction of all Australian Animals. Our main objectives during the holiday program is for us to entertain learning through the magic of play so your young person can have fun, make new friendships, and hopefully provide them with memories that last a lifetime.

In addition, we welcome the following Community Groups:
