WHOLE SCHOOL FOCUS
The Whole school focus theme for this year is ‘Walking Together’.
Our value for the next two weeks is: Resilience
Resilience is what helps us to spring back from hard times—just like a bouncy ball. No matter how hard you throw it, it always bounces back up.
At Mother Teresa School we will show resilience when we:
- Have a positive self-image
- Respond flexibly to situations
- Manage emotions
- Balance interaction and reflection
PRAYER FOCUS
Thank you to Mrs Connelly, Mrs White, Mrs Fraser along with the students in Kinder Scarlett and Kinder Rose for presenting a fabulous Prayer Focus on Resilience. The students did an amazing job at presenting what resilience looks like at MTS. This term Kindergarten has been learning about Nursery Rhymes. One of our favourite nursery rhymes is Incy Wincy Spider which tells the story of a resilient spider who picks himself up and tries again. They shared a fabulous dance called ‘Shake it off’. Thank you to all those parents who came along to support the students.
FIRST HOLY COMMUNION / RECONCILIATION
Please pray for our Year 3 teachers and students who are currently preparing for the Sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion.
All families would have received their letters indicating the sessions they will be attending for Reconciliation and First Holy communion. Please ensure the slip has been returned with numbers attending and any typos that need to be fixed.
It was wonderful to see so many students and families turn up for mass with their ‘precious memories ribbons’ last weekend. If you couldn’t make it, come along this weekend and add them to the display. Don’t forget to bring your item for the St Vincent de Paul and collect your jigsaw puzzle piece.
The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary
Tuesday, 15th August—9:30am start
School Hall
This is a Holy Day of Obligation.
Good and loving God,
You are faithful to those you love.
As we celebrate the mystery of
Mary’s Assumption,
May her faith in you and your promise to her
Help us to trust in you more deeply.
This we pray in the name of Jesus your Son.
Amen

Year A
“Command me to come to you over the water.”
Something to Think About
There is a saying, 'You'll never, never know unless you have a go!' This is the basis of trust. Fear can stop us from even trying to do things. Can you remember a time when fear of failure stopped you from doing something you really wanted to do. Have there been times you were able to trust and things worked very well.
The Story
This story is about trust. The disciples are on a boat in a bad storm. They are very scared, but Jesus comes walking on the water towards him. Jesus encourages Peter to walk to him, across the water. Peter starts to walk towards Jesus, but when he notices the wind and waves, he is afraid and starts sinking. Jesus saves Peter and calms the storm. Jesus says - 'Be not afraid!' This phrase occurs 366 times throughout the Bible. It is a message that Jesus wants us to hear and believe.
