Pupil Free Days - 2021
To support the rollout of the Catholic Education’s ‘Catalyst’ initiative, Catholic Education has granted all schools an extra two days of professional development for 2021. These days will occur on the first day of term two, 19th April, and term three, 12th July.
While schools have three professional development days at the beginning of the year very little time is spent on teaching and learning which is our core business. Compliance requirements linked to WHS, anti-discrimination, bullying and harassment, first aid, National Collection of Data for Students with a Disability are some of the requirements that eat into our professional development days. Schools have been asking for more time to focus on curriculum for some time and are pleased to be given these two days.
Kidz Biz have confirmed that they will have programs running for both of these days if parents wish to avail themselves of this service.
Good quality professional development is essential to enable us to increase the knowledge and skills of our teachers which in turn leads to better outcomes for our students.
Math’s Problem
Congratulation’s to Selina Li who was last week’s winner. Interestingly Selina submitted an entry early in the week and then thought about her answer and submitted an updated answer several days later. Well done Selina!
This week’s problem is below.
How many three-digit numbers greater than 900 are there that satisfy the following conditions?
- The sum of the digits is 14.
- The digits are all different.
- The tens digit is an odd number.
God Bless

Religious Education Week 8 Term 4
The Whole school focus theme for this year is: Be Just Like Jesus
Jesus showed us that serving others and humility go hand in hand. As we start to prepare for Advent and Christmas we need to think about how we can ‘Be the hands of Jesus by giving to others.’
SECOND SUNDAY IN ADVENT
Year B | Sunday 6th December | purple
"Make straight the paths of the Lord."
Something to Think About
How do you get ready for Christmas?
What happens at school, at home and at church during Advent while we wait for Jesus’ birth?
The Story
The gospel this week starts with words from the prophet Isaiah: “In the desert, someone is shouting, ‘Get the road ready for the Lord! Make a straight path for him.” Then it moves on to the story of John the Baptist. John was the one shouting in the desert, telling people to turn back to God. John baptised people with water in the Jordan River, but he also told the people that someone more powerful than him would come and baptise them with the Holy Spirit. That ‘someone more powerful’, was Jesus.
The Scriptures
A reading from the holy gospel according to Mark 1:1-8
This is the good news about Jesus Christ, the Son of God.
It began just as God had said in the book written by Isaiah the prophet,
"I am sending my messenger to get the way ready for you.
In the desert someone is shouting,
'Get the road ready for the Lord! Make a straight path for him.'"
So John the Baptist showed up in the desert and told everyone,
"Turn back to God and be baptised! Then your sins will be forgiven."
From all Judea and from Jerusalem crowds of people went to John.
They told how sorry they were for their sins, and he baptised them in the Jordan River.
John wore clothes made of camel's hair. He had a leather strap around his waist and ate grasshoppers and wild honey. John also told the people,
"Someone more powerful is going to come.
And I am not good enough even to stoop down and untie his sandals.
I baptise you with water, but he will baptise you with the Holy Spirit!"
The Gospel of the Lord.
Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.
Reflection
Think carefully about John’s message. “Turn back to God… Then your sins will be forgiven.”
How might we change direction in our own lives to draw closer to God?
What should we try to change in our hearts and in our actions?
Lord Jesus,
Help us to prepare a way for you in our lives
and to turn our minds and hearts back to you.
May we experience your tender mercy
and rest in your forgiving love.
Amen.
Thank you to all those generous families who contributed to The Vinnies Christmas Appeal! We raised over $2,000.00 – 2 Emerald was the class that raised the most with $138.00.
Alison Weeks from the Parish council sent an email:
Congratulations to Mother Teresa School on the wonderful Vinnies Christmas Appeal. What a great result! It is genuine commitment like this which draws us all together and makes us strong and compassionate.
Warm regards Alison Weeks
