Dear Parents,
A reminder to all parents that next Tuesday at 6pm in the staff room the AGM of the MTS Community Council will be held to elect office bearers for the 2020 school year. The current chair of the community council, Bianca Punter, will be moving interstate so will not be standing. On behalf of the school I thank Bianca for the significant contribution she has made to our school while she has led the Community Council.
Our Indigenous Parent Advisory Group will be meeting on the same day at 4pm in the school library.
Congratulations!
This week Sean Loney (5 Silver) was awarded an Inspiring Student Award from the Australian Maths Trust. Sean is one of many outstanding mathematicians we have at MTS and the award recognises his talent as well as his growth mindset when it comes to mathematical challenges.
Well done Sean.
Defence School Mentor
Last week interviews were conducted for the position of Defence School Mentor at MTS to replace Danielle Cooper who is taking up full time study. The successful candidate was Leanne Revell who comes from a military background previously being employed by the Navy. She was a clinical phycologist and has worked to support children and families serving in the Navy. We welcome Leanne to our school and are sure her skills will be valuable in supporting our defence families.
Maths Problem
Congratulations to Lizzie Uhlmann (5 Ivory) who was last week’s winner. This week’s problem is below.
A farmer counted the chickens in his barn and noticed that when he counted by 2s, 3s or 4s, there was one left over, but when he counted by 5s there were none left over. If the farmer had less than 100 chickens, how many chickens could he have?
God Bless
Peter Hughes
