The Whole school focus theme for this JUBILEE 2025 year is

‘PILGRIMS OF HOPE’
This term ‘The Mother Teresa School Way’ is to be:
Companions on the Journey: Caring, Supporting, and Growing Together.
“Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.” — 1
Thessalonians 5:11
At Mother Teresa School, we value being calm in a peaceful, respectful, and nurturing environment where students feel safe and supported. The Mother Teresa Way is to:
• Daily Christian Meditation

• Listen to each other &
• Resolve conflicts peacefully.
Please pray for our Year 6 Confirmation Candidates, their teachers, and families as they prepare this important sacrament.
Important- Could all parents please ensure they have completed and returned the note that went out this week. Please write on the return slip if you require certain seating arrangements eg. you are a sponsor for another candidate.
Spirit Day- Friday 6th June at Holy Spirit Church
(Those students not participating in the day will remain at school and have suitable activities to complement the day)
Sacrament of Confirmation- Tuesday 10th June at 6.00pm
All our Confirmation candidates are truly embracing their ministries and getting involved in the Parish Masses. Well done! Don’t forget to bring your item of food for the ‘Food Pantry’.

The Sports Spectacle
This week, we dived into a tackle practice session to gear up for the Sullivan Shield in Week 6. It was fantastic to see so many of our Year 5 and 6 students ready to tackle the challenge (pun absolutely intended)! If you missed out, fear not—there’s another tackle session on Tuesday at lunchtime. We highly recommend all students from Years 3-6 who have signed up for the Sullivan Shield event to attend. We're teaching the art of tackling without turning into pretzel shapes—safety first!
On Monday the 26 May, 40 brave souls from MTS will be representing us at the Regional Cross Country at Stromlo. Rain or shine (and believe me, it’s looking like a monsoon), this event is going ahead! A huge shoutout to our parent volunteer and the wonderful Mrs. Maher for stepping up to help me out. I promise not to make them run!
Then, on Tuesday, our superstar 3/4 Netball teams will be showing off their skills at their Gala Day. They’ll each be playing 6 games—hopefully, the weather will cooperate and not turn into a water park!
Keep your eyes peeled for the Athletics Carnival note, which should be flying your way soon. If you can lend a hand on the day, please shoot me an email or respond to the Compass invite.

Our Amazing Excursion to Gubur Dhaura
By Niyrah C-C (4 Indigo)
On Friday 16th May we walked to Gubur Dhaura (which means 'red ochre'). This site is on Ngunnawal land. Gubur Dhaura is a very sacred and old place where Aboriginal people used to meet. We learnt about all the symbols like
This one is the most important because it is the 'meeting place' symbol.
There were different mining tools that we didn't know how to use. We didn't touch them, but we got to look at them and experience how they word by reading about it.
We learnt about different birds, possums and other animals that lived in the area.
We learnt about iron and ochre rock which was used for painting bodies for special occasions. They also traded ochre for different tools.
My favourite part was playing marn-grook. I loved how we had to be fancy with our kicks because the ball we were using was made of possum fur (this one wasn't real!).
In my opinion, everyone should go to Gubur Dhaura because it's an amazing and spiritual place where there's a lot to learn.
The MTS Yearbook request for photos
The Mother Teresa School Yearbook has been confirmed for 2025, but this year, we are going to need your help to get it across the line.
Families that have been with us for a few years would know that each year, with the help of our school committee and dedicated parents and our amazing teachers, we have produced a 200 page, professionally printed yearbook featuring all classes and highlighting the momentous occasions and experiences throughout the year.
The Yearbook has always been wonderfully received in the school community and are great keepsakes for the children to reflect on their journey here. To help in that undertaking we are hoping for your assistance
We would specifically like to request any photos from the events that have occurred in term 1 while they are fresh on your memories
-swimming carnival
-Reconciliation
-Harmony day
- Excursions
If families have any photos or if you’re attending school events (sporting, social etc) and you take any photos we’d love for you to snap and send a few back to us to use in the yearbook (appropriate permissions will be sought).
If you can help us with the above, please reach out and contact the Yearbook team via the yearbook email MTSYearbook00@gmail.com
Kind regards
Lindsay Hackett
