Principal's Message Term 2 Week 2 2025
Dear Parents and Carers,
Enrolment time
Please advise your neighbours and local friends to visit Mother Teresa to view our facilities and learn about what we have on offer. It is time to enrol!
Fabulous Foursome
Congratulations to our Fabulous Foursome who attended the Early Career Mass during the week. We are so very fortunate to have all four teachers employed as permanent members of the Mother Teresa School community.
Special events that occurred over the last week
Our picture-perfect Cross Country Carnival day was fabulous. The children loved running in the sun, listening to their peers cheering them on. A real carnival atmosphere with so many parents able to attend and assist. Congratulations to Irwin who earnt the most points to win the carnival. Many thanks to Kate O'Keefe for her coordination and management on the day.
A beautiful ANZAC art display by Year 3
Car Signs For Afternoon Pickup
I appealing to parents who use our afternoon drive-through to please consider purchasing a sunviser family sign to be displayed when picking up your child/ren. With so many staff members supporting the afternoon pickup, it is difficult for the staff to identify parents. Unfortunately, the dashboard signs cannot be seen when you are standing with the children.
Click Sign Safe Kids, which will take you to a website to place an order. (A sample is on the desk in the office.)

Enrolment Contract Reminder Part 1
As a reminder of parents obligations when enrolling a child into a Catholic School, I will publish sections of the Parent Contract over the next few weeks. Please remind yourself of the obligations you committed to when signing the contract to join our wonderful cimmunity.
Background
Catholic education is intrinsic to the mission of the Catholic Church. The School is a Catholic school in the Archdiocese of Canberra and Goulburn that is founded in the Catholic faith and Catholic traditions and is registered under the relevant state or territory Education Act. The proprietor of the School is Catholic Archdiocese of Canberra and Goulburn Education Limited ABN 60 675 797 734 (the Company and Proprietor). The Proprietor is responsible for the operation of 56 schools, 9 early learning centres, 3 school aged care services and the Catholic Education Office, collectively referred to as Catholic Education Canberra Goulburn or CECG.
The Parent wishes to enrol the Student at the School to participate in the educational program and receive the benefit of the educational services delivered by the School.
The Principal of the School agrees to enrol the Student at the School in accordance with the Terms and Conditions set out in this Enrolment Contract. The Student cannot be enrolled at the School or attend the School until at least one person with Parental Responsibility for the Student has signed an Enrolment Contract, or an exemption from this requirement is approved by the Executive Director of Catholic Education.
Enrolment
1.Upon execution of an Enrolment Contract the School will:
a. formally enrol the Student at the School and enter the Student’s details on the School’s enrolment register;
b. facilitate the Student’s participation in the educational programs and educational services delivered by the School on the days that the School is operating during the School Term whilst the Student remains enrolled at the School;
c. facilitate electronic access for the Parent to the student administration system in place at the School that contains information about activities at the School, news, events and the Student’s educational progress;
d. provide a written report to the Parent at least twice each year about the Student’s academic achievements; and
e. facilitate opportunities for the Parent to participate in formal Parent/Teacher interviews during Parent/Teacher interview times each year.
2. The development and implementation of the educational programs, school activities and school events are the responsibility of the Principal, working in collaboration with staff at the School.
3. The Principal may change the programs, services, activities or events that the School offers or the mode of delivery of the curriculum, subjects and/ if the Principal of the School is of the view that it is appropriate to do so.
More to follow next week.

WHOLE SCHOOL FOCUS
The Whole school focus theme for this JUBILEE 2025 year is ‘PILGRIMS OF HOPE’
This term ‘The Mother Teresa School Way’ is to be:
Companions on the Journey: Caring, Supporting, and Growing Together.
On our spiritual journey, we often face challenges such as fear, doubt, and anxiety. It's easy to feel alone or give up, but we are called to support each other. Like companions, we care for one another and inspire hope. Faith is strengthened through regular "resistance training"—prayer, service, and sacraments. Mother Teresa reminded us to always offer hope, especially when the road gets tough. By caring for others, we also grow in our own faith and resilience.
Scripture Reference: “Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.” — 1 Thessalonians 5:11 As companions on the journey, we are called to care for and support one another, building each other up in faith. This strengthens us collectively and individually, allowing us to grow through service and love.
“Jesus came and took the bread and gave it to them, and did the same with the fish.”
Something to Think About
Have you ever been fishing? Do you think it would be easy or hard to catch fish?
The disciples were great fishermen, but in this story they go fishing all night and catch nothing. Then a stranger appears on the shore. It’s Jesus but they don’t know it yet. He asks them to let their nets down again. They catch so many fish that they can hardly fit them in the boat. The disciples are so surprised! Then they realise that the man is Jesus and they come ashore to sit around a warm fire and eat bread and fish.
Dear Parents/Carers of Year 6 Students who are Catholic and are Preparing for the Sacrament of Confirmation
Next week you will be required to fill out an online form with key details about who your child's Confirmation Sponsor will be. Please familiarise yourself with the booklet to ensure you are following the correct protocols.
Spirit Day- Friday 6th June at Holy Spirit Church
(Those students not participating in the day will remain at school and have suitable activities to complement the day)
Sacrament of Confirmation –Tuesday 10th June at 6.00pm
This will be a celebration of the Rite of Confirmation (not a full mass)
All our Confirmation candidates are truly embracing their ministries and getting involved in the Parish Masses.
A GIGANTIC shout-out to our amazing volunteers! You all were the true MVPs—setting up gazebos, hauling cones like seasoned athletes, and cheering on our students like you were at a rock concert! Without your support, we might have ended up with more chaos than a three-legged race at a family reunion.
Now, for the results: the final placings were Jackman, Alcott, Barty, and Irwin—who has officially become the Usain Bolt of our school by winning two years in a row!
Next up, we have the North Gungahlin Cross Country at Stromlo on Monday, May 26.
Ribbons for those who finished first, second or third will be handed out next week.

Mini Magic and Luminosity Update
After a well-earned Easter break, our cheer teams bounced back into training with big smiles and even bigger energy! There was lots of catching up, laughing, and a few impressive handstands in the warm-up. Everyone was clearly happy to be back.
Since returning, Mini Magic and Luminosity have been busy perfecting their stunts and building their skills week by week. From steady lifts to brave new tumbles, the athletes have been giving everything a go. There’s been a great mix of practicing the moves they know and challenging themselves with new ones, all while cheering each other on with plenty of team spirit.
It’s been such a positive start to the term. Stay tuned for more updates as comp day gets closer!
The MTS Yearbook request for photos
The Mother Teresa School Yearbook has been confirmed for 2025, but this year, we are going to need your help to get it across the line.
Families that have been with us for a few years would know that each year, with the help of our school committee and dedicated parents and our amazing teachers, we have produced a 200 page, professionally printed yearbook featuring all classes and highlighting the momentous occasions and experiences throughout the year.
The Yearbook has always been wonderfully received in the school community and are great keepsakes for the children to reflect on their journey here. To help in that undertaking we are hoping for your assistance
We would specifically like to request any photos from the events that have occurred in term 1 while they are fresh on your memories
-swimming carnival
-Reconciliation
-Harmony day
- Excursions
If families have any photos or if you’re attending school events (sporting, social etc) and you take any photos we’d love for you to snap and send a few back to us to use in the yearbook (appropriate permissions will be sought).
If you can help us with the above, please reach out and contact the Yearbook team via the yearbook email MTSYearbook00@gmail.com
Kind regards
Lindsay Hackett
