I trust everyone made the most of our Term 1 SABBATH Week. I know many of the teachers found it worthwhile considering the number of children who have been away, over the last few weeks, due to sickness or due to the need to be in quarantine. It has been a good catch-up week across the school.
The children all looked neat and tidy for our annual school photos. Many thanks to Craig Hart for this organisation to ensure class and family photos ran smoothly.
Harmony Day is a day to celebrate Australian multiculturalism, based on the successful integration of migrants into our community. Harmony Day is about inclusiveness, respect and belonging for all Australians, regardless of cultural or linguistic background, united by a set of core Australian values. Harmony Day is held every year on 21 March. The day coincides with the United Nations International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination. Since 1999, more than 70,000 Harmony Day events have been held in childcare centres, schools, community groups, churches, businesses and federal, state and local government agencies across Australia.

WHOLE SCHOOL FOCUS
The Whole school focus theme for this year is ‘Do small Things with Great Love’ and the Bible reference that supports our theme is Ephesians 2:1, in which St Paul says:
“We are God’s work of art,
Created in Christ Jesus to live the good life
As from the beginning he had meant us to live it.”
Focus Assembly
Our value for this week is: Consideration
At Mother Teresa we are going to show consideration towards those we meet in our class and on the playground by:
- Including others
- Listening attentively
- Showing good sportsmanship
- Treating others equitably
Thank you, Mrs Pye, along with 3 Turquoise for presenting a beautiful Focus Assembly on
being Considerate. The students did an amazing job at presenting what consideration at
MTS looks like using our school motto ‘Do Small things With Great Love’.
We encourage you to put your compassion into action this Lent through your prayer, fasting and almsgiving by supporting Project Compassion. This week we raised $333.30 a fabulous effort from everyone.
The students have been looking at the case studies of where their money is going this week it is going to Janice, from Australia.
A Wagilak woman, Janice is a traditional dancer who tells stories through movements handed down over generations. With your support, Janice and the Djilpin Arts Aboriginal Corporation support the community to generate income and employment, while keeping culture alive.

Thank you to all our Year 6 students who are showing their commitment towards their Ministry Masses. Don’t forget to bring your item of food for the ‘Food Pantry’.

In this week’s gospel, Jesus tells the people a story. He describes a man who had a fruit tree that wasn’t growing any fruit. The man waits for three years and still it grows no fruit. He wants to chop the tree down, but the gardener tells him to wait one more year, and give it some fertiliser to help it grow.
The Scriptures
A reading from the holy Gospel according to Luke 13:6-9
I will fertilise it to make it grow.
Jesus told the people this story:
"A man had a fig tree growing in his vineyard.
One day he went out to pick some figs, but he didn't find any.
So he said to the gardener, 'For three years I have come looking for figs on this tree,
and I haven't found any yet.
Chop it down!
Why should it take up space?'
"The gardener answered, 'Master, leave it for another year.
I'll dig around it and put some manure on it to make it grow.
Maybe it will have figs on it next year.
If it doesn't, you can have it cut down.' "
The Gospel of the Lord.
Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.
Something to Think About
What does it mean to be patient?
Can you remember a time when you had to be patient?
Who are the people in your life who are patient with you?
Peace and Best Wishes.

Learning to live with change and loss
Change and loss are issues that affect all of us at some stage in our lives. At Mother Teresa School we recognise that when changes occur in families through death, separation, divorce and related circumstances, young people may benefit from learning how to manage these changes effectively. We are therefore offering a very successful education program called Seasons for Growth which will commence in Term 2. This program is facilitated in small groups and is based on research which highlights the importance of social support and the need the practise new skills to cope effectively with change and loss. The program focuses on issues such as self-esteem, managing feelings, problem-solving, decision-making, effective communication and support networks.
Mother Teresa School is pleased to be able to offer this important program and we are confident that it will be a valuable learning experience for those who request to be involved.
If you think your child would benefit from Seasons for Growth we would encourage you to talk to them about participating in the program. Every family who registers their interest with our Student Wellbeing Officer, by emailing christina.page@cg.catholic.edu.au will receive an information pack with more details about the Seasons for Growth program and an invitation for their child to attend.
