Dear parents,
Next Friday reports will be made available to parents through Compass. Information on how these can be accessed will be sent home next week. There will be no hard copies given to students. Again, as in semester one, the reports will be limited given the impact of lockdown which saw students spending many weeks at home. Reporting will be limited to RE, English, Maths and the general capabilities. As with last semester there will be no comments.
In 2022 we will be examining how we report to parents as the new procedures do not support our current schedule for parent teacher interviews, three-way conferences and learning journeys. I understand the frustrations associated with the reporting process this year which coincided with a new admin system rolled out as well. I am sure that 2022 will see greater alignment between student assessment and student reports.
Year Books
I would like to congratulate Kahla Kruger, Lindsay Pennock, Tanya Bolton and John Mikita for all the work they did on producing the great school year books for 2021. They are certainly a wonderful keepsake.
Parent Pick-ups
A reminder to parents that due to staggered lunch and recess breaks, our regular (old) break times are now different for many year groups. If you would like to collect your children early please let your class teacher know in advance (if possible). If it is an unexpected pick up please call the front office as soon as possible so that we can try to locate your child/children on time. Please note that it is not always possible to find them quickly if they have gone out to the playground.
MTS Christmas Carols
Next Friday night we will again be holding our MTS Christmas Carols. It would be lovely to see as many families as possible come along and enjoy the carols. More details about this event are in the newsletter.
God Bless

Religious Education Term 4 Week 9 - 2021
WHOLE SCHOOL FOCUS The Whole school focus theme for this year is:
‘We Are Bee-Attitude Keepers”
2nd Sunday in Advent 5 December 2021 - Year C
“All people shall see the salvation of God.”
Something to Think About
In today’s story, John tells the people to “Turn back to God!” What do you think this might mean?
The Story
John the Baptist told all the people that they should start leading good lives and be baptised. He told them that Jesus was coming and that they should get their hearts ready.
Reflecting on the Gospel
Imagine you are a prophet with big eyes, big ears and a big mouth. In your imagination can you see anything in our world that God might want someone to change? Mention people who have no homes, no food, and no jobs. How would God would want us to help these people?
Group Activity
SPREAD THE WORD!
You will need: a piece of construction paper for each child, markers or stickers for decoration, sticky-tape, scissors.
John the Baptist spread the word about Jesus. He needed to shout loudly in the desert because there were no microphones, or televisions or radios to get his message out.
This week make your own trumpeting horn to help you tell others that Jesus is coming soon!
- Take a piece of A4 construction paper and roll it into the corner to make a cone shape.
- Use sticky-tape to fix the horn in place.
- Trim the extra paper from the bottom.
- Decorate your horn and use it to proclaim, “Get ready for Jesus!”

At Mother Teresa School we recognise the wonderful work that St Vincent de Paul does in providing vital and ongoing support to people in need. As part of the Holy Spirit Parish we
support this appeal annually as an important link to help those in need in our local community. The Christmas Appeal also provides a tangible way for children to be involved in helping others; and to see that Christmas is not just a time for receiving, but a time for reaching out and giving too! Your child’s item is: (Highlighted on their slip)
Please ensure that your items have not passed the used by date and are non-perishable.
We hope you can support this appeal in some way. Donations will need to be at school by Friday 11th December in readiness for the Christmas Giving Appeal.

MTS Open
On Tuesday 30th November we finally had some decent weather to hold our annual MTS Tennis Open. 32 talented players from years 5 and 6 participated in a singles knockout tennis tournament to get their name on the prestigious shield.
There was some outstanding tennis played on the day with some amazing shots that wouldn’t have looked out of place in the Australian Open. As always, the students displayed incredible sportsmanship and congratulated the victor of each match.
Congratulations to Hugh Almond who took the tournament out again this year beating Cooper Sheehan in the Championship Final 21-15 in a very hard-fought match.
Thanks to all the students who participated and Mr Hart for officiating on the day.
Cheers
Mr Roweth
